STATE GUARD CODE OF CONDUCT INTRODUCTION
CurrentLast updated March 25, 2026
1.DEFINITIONS; PUNISHMENTS; OFFENSE TYPES
- (a)Leniency Warning (LW) shall refer to any punishment or reprimand that is not formally recorded on any document or record but still serves as a corrective action.
- • i. An example could be directing a guardsman to run laps around the installation for a minor infraction of this code of conduct.
- • ii. This warning may be logged in the action logs channel or on a document, Google sheet, etc., but does not count towards any strikes or affect the status of the guardsman in the State Guard.
- (b)Recorded Punishment (RP) shall refer to any punishment or reprimand that is officially recorded on a document, database, or in the action-logs. It is more severe than an LW and affects the guardsman's standing in the State Guard.
- i. Every Recorded Punishment is accompanied by a strike. Two strikes lead to a dishonorable discharge. However, for particularly severe violations, State Guard Command or Ridgeway National Guard Headquarters have the authority to issue a dishonorable discharge without the prerequisite two strikes.
- (c)The term “officer in charge” means a member of the State Guard designated by the appropriate authority.
- (d)The term “on-duty” means when an individual is wearing a State Guard uniform, holding a State Guard weapon, driving a State Guard vehicle, or being on the State Guard team.
- (e)The term “off-duty” means when an individual is not on the team or when using the State Guard Discord.
- (f)A dishonorable discharge is issued when there has been a major offense against the State Guard. This can be due to accumulating two strikes or a particularly egregious single violation.
- (g)An honorable discharge is issued upon honorably separating from the State Guard.
- (h)Voluntary General Discharge is given when a guardsman chooses to resign from the State Guard, possibly with one strike against them. This type of discharge does not affect the guardsman's potential reemployment with the department or other associated departments.
- • i. This could be due to personal reasons or other circumstances but isn't because of any significant misconduct.
- (i)Involuntary General Discharge is when a guardsman is dismissed from the State Guard without it being deemed "dishonorable." It suggests a forced resignation that isn’t based on major offenses.
- • i. Like the Voluntary General Discharge, this doesn't impact future employment possibilities with the department or other associated departments.
- (j)Leniency Offense is a minor offense against the State Guard; such shall be punishable by a Leniency Warning.
- • i. A Leniency Offense can be committed both on and off duty.
- • ii. Any senior noncommissioned officer and above may issue a leniency warning for a Leniency Offense.
- (k)Recorded Offense is a more severe offense against the State Guard; such shall be punishable by a Recorded Punishment.
- • i. A Recorded Offense can be committed both on and off duty.
- • ii. Only a commanding officer and above may reprimand an individual for a Recorded Offense.
- (l)DRAFT ZERO TOLERNCE POLICY:
- (i)All drafted State Guardsmen are subject to a Zero Tolerance Policy for the duration of the war and any violation constitutes immediate discharge.
